Cava tapas & wine bar est. 2008

Established in 2008, Cava was opened by Chef Gregg Sessler and business partner John Akar. Located in the heart of historic downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and is just a brief walk from the Portsmouth Parking Garage. Quaint and picturesque, Commercial Alley is home to several small independent businesses. Perhaps one of the most noted features is Cava's Vertical Garden. In the summertime our guests dine under New England's first native outdoor living wall. 

Featuring two wine bars, one on street level and one in our Wine Cave. Akar offers a diverse selection of fifty plus international wines poured by the glass. Chef Sessler's inspired modern interpretation of Spanish tapas uses only the freshest quality ingredients to create innovative menus.
